The 16th and 17th centuries saw the rise of horse riding as a popular pastime among the wealthy and elite, which led to the development of specialized clothing and accessories designed for horse riding. Riding boots, originally designed for support and protection, became a popular fashion item.
In the 18th and 19th centuries, the equestrian influence on fashion continued to evolve with the development of tailored riding jackets and other riding gear. These items were not only practical but also stylish, made from high-quality materials such as wool and leather. Jackets featured distinctive design elements such as high collars, brass buttons, and tapered waists, often worn with jodhpurs or riding breeches. Originally worn by horse riders for warmth and protection, the jacket has since become a symbol of sophistication and class.
Luxury handbags such as the Hermès Birkin bag and the Gucci Jackie bag were both inspired by equestrian gear. The Hermès Birkin bag features a distinctive shape reminiscent of a horse saddle, often made from high-quality leather with gold or silver hardware. The Gucci Jackie bag, popularized by former First Lady Jackie Kennedy in the 1950s, features a horseshoe-shaped clasp that became an instant icon. Riding boots, tailored jackets, and other equestrian-inspired pieces remain popular among fashion-conscious consumers.
Equestrian-inspired jewelry pieces such as bracelets, necklaces, and earrings often feature horse-inspired designs, crafted from high-quality materials such as gold and silver, and adorned with precious gemstones. Brands such as Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels have created equestrian-inspired jewelry collections featuring horse motifs and other elements inspired by the equestrian world.
The equestrian influence on fashion is not limited to just clothing and accessories. It has also inspired luxury brands to create fragrances that capture the essence of the equestrian world. Gucci's Guilty Absolute Pour Femme, for example, features notes of leather and vetiver, evoking the rugged yet refined nature of horse riding.
Overall, the equestrian world has had a lasting impact on luxury fashion, with its timeless appeal and associations with sophistication and elegance. Riding boots turned into heeled booties, riding coats turned into blazers, leather is now used to make pants and jackets, horseshoes have become clasps, and shackles turned into necklaces. All of these equestrian-inspired pieces have become iconic staples in the fashion world, and luxury brands continue to incorporate these elements into their collections in unique and creative ways. The influence of the equestrian world on fashion is a testament to the enduring appeal of this aristocratic culture and its timeless sense of style.
Hermès: The French luxury brand is perhaps best known for its iconic Birkin and Kelly bags, which were inspired by equestrian saddlebags. Hermès also produces a range of equestrian-inspired clothing and accessories, including riding boots, tailored jackets, and scarves.
Gucci: The Italian fashion house has a long-standing connection with equestrian culture, dating back to the early 20th century when founder Guccio Gucci worked as a bellboy at London's Savoy Hotel, where he was inspired by the stylish riding gear worn by guests. Today, Gucci produces a range of equestrian-inspired clothing and accessories, including the iconic Jackie bag.
Ralph Lauren: The American fashion designer has a long-standing love of equestrian culture, and has incorporated its influences into many of his designs. Ralph Lauren produces a range of equestrian-inspired clothing and accessories, including tailored riding jackets, jodhpurs, and riding boots.
Burberry: The British luxury brand has a long-standing connection with equestrian culture, with its iconic trench coat originally designed for use by British soldiers during World War I. Today, Burberry produces a range of equestrian-inspired clothing and accessories, including riding boots and tailored jackets.
Chanel: The French fashion house has incorporated equestrian influences into many of its designs, including the iconic quilted handbag, which was inspired by horse blankets. Chanel also produces a range of equestrian-inspired clothing and accessories, including riding boots and tailored jackets.
Alexander McQueen was known for his bold and avant-garde designs, which often featured equestrian motifs such as horse prints and harnesses. His Fall 2008 collection, titled "The Girl Who Lived in the Tree," featured an equestrian-inspired jacket with a high collar and tapered waist.
Christian Dior's love for horses and horse riding was well-known, and this influence can be seen in some of his designs. His 1949 Fall/Winter collection featured a fitted jacket with a nipped-in waist and flared peplum, inspired by traditional riding jackets.
Coach has also incorporated equestrian influences into their designs, particularly in their accessories. Their Bridle Bag, for example, is inspired by the hardware on horse bridles, and features a distinctive shape and design. But also in their logo – the iconic horse-and-cart emblem of the Coach logo portrays the products’ high quality and beauty.
Isabel Marant is known for her bohemian and effortless style, which often incorporates equestrian-inspired elements such as suede boots and tailored jackets. Her Fall 2020 collection featured a number of equestrian-inspired pieces, including jodhpur-style pants and riding boots.
Calvin Klein has also incorporated equestrian influences into their designs, particularly in their Fall/Winter 2018 collection. The collection featured tailored jackets and pants with equestrian-style details such as high collars and tapered waists, as well as riding boots and other accessories.
These are just a few examples of the many luxury fashion designers who have been influenced by equestrian culture over the years.

Our Summer Favorites are a seasonal roundup of everything we can't get enough of right now. From the VP pieces we can't stop wearing and candles we can't stop burning, to our go-to cocktails when friends come over and more, we think you'll love these treasures too! Here all the things that will make the rest of summer just as special ...
We love the Cheval Bit Necklace because it is so versatile and though Equestrian-inspired, goes with any outfit for any type of occasion. This necklace comes with a leather cord or a metal chain. You can also choose if you want diamonds or not, and which metal you prefer, Sterling Silver, Black Rhodium, or of course, 14kt Yellow Gold!
They fill the entire room. We get compliments every time we burn this candle. They come in exotic and unique containers inspired by travel and different places around the world. Perfect for a summer like this where wanderlust is really taking over our daily thoughts. Best of all, you can shop them at our Green Hills location and pick out your favorite scent!
This watch had to be on the list as we're drawn to everything two-toned right now. We love mixing metals and pairing high-end timepieces with our pieces. You can find this watch and more premium, pre-owned Rolex and Cartier watches at our Green Hills location.
A perfect summer afternoon isn't complete without a cocktail. Try this Peach Bellini recipe via Waiting on Martha

In the midst of a global pandemic, life still goes on. Birthday candles are being blown out, Easter came and went, young scholars are finishing out their semesters in anticipation for summer, between moments of uncertainty there is laughter at the dinner table, and like every spring, a very special day is just around the corner.
Though Mother's Day this year will definitely not be like the rest, that doesn't mean it cannot be just as special ... and special it should be.
]]>In the midst of a global pandemic, life still goes on. Birthday candles are being blown out, Easter came and went, young scholars are finishing out their semesters in anticipation of summer, between moments of uncertainty there is laughter at the dinner table, and like every spring, a very special day is just around the corner.
Though Mother's Day this year will definitely not be like the rest, that doesn't mean it cannot be just as special ... and special it should be.
Being a mother is unlike anything else in this world and to mother is something even deeper.
to mother (verb) :
to give birth to
to bring up (a child) with care and affection
look after (someone) kindly and protectively
Though I am not a mom myself, I see clearly that there's so much more to it than giving birth to a child.
It's the up-all-night worry, finding the right words to say and the hugs when there are none, the coordination of family gatherings, ensuring we're all where we need to be with everything we need, playing doctor and therapist at least once a week, but most importantly, it's the love that keeps us going on the good and bad days.
It's a very important role and one that is probably not celebrated enough.
Regardless of the relationship you have with your own mother, hopefully, we all have people in our lives who are there for us and will answer our 2 am calls or offer a shoulder to lean on ... people who make a place feel like home.
So here's to them: the ones who make our days brighter, our souls richer, our hearts fuller, and keep our families glued together.
To celebrate, we're giving a pair of Freshwater Post Earrings with every order over $150, plus receive free standard shipping on orders over $100. Give as a set or keep for your own collection!
We hope everyone is staying healthy (and sane) during this time! If you're anything like us, you're looking for any sense of normalcy and stability during this uncertain time.
Some days we're going along just fine, tapping into our creativity, organizing the closet (again), checking-in on loved ones. Others, our hearts feel very heavy for those affected or we’re left feeling a little confused about how to move forward. And while we and our team are so grateful to have our health at this time, we can't help but have our ups and downs.
We've found solace in the fact that we're all in this together – but there have been a few people who have really been a rock for us. They answer every FaceTime call and respond to all of our social media messages. In addition to all of the wonderful healthcare workers, first responders, and essential workers who keep our lives running relatively smoothly during this time, these people are our heroes.
That got us wondering who your heroes are? Maybe it's a friend who listens to all of your quarantine-induced-thoughts or a grandmother who gives you a how-to on making her signature dish ... it could be a nurse who took care of your sick family member or the delivery man you see every week.
We want to spread the love by giving away 20 $200 Vincent Peach gift certificates to your Modern Day Heroes. Nominate anyone who has brought joy and positivity to your life or has shown enormous courage and strength during this time.
How it Works
Post a photo or video to your Instagram Feed or Story of who your hero is and why then tag us @vincentpeach and use the hashtag #2020ModernDayHeroes.
We'll randomly choose 20 people to give us the name and email of their hero so we can send them a $200 VP gift certificate. We'll be announcing winners every Friday starting April 17th through May 8th!
We can't wait to see who has been getting you through this time and how they've made your day/week/month. We hope this will remind us to keep showing up for each other and that not all heroes wear capes.
Stay safe!
Vincent and Michelle

As July has come and gone, August is here and the end of summertime approaches the horizon. Summer, the sweet season of nostalgia and wanderlust; It is the season that reminds us of the unadulterated freedoms, slow sunny mornings turning into long cool nights with fleeting responsibilities; Responsibilities that are keeping us anchored to our current location as we read this. Sitting at the office desk daydreaming of the places worth travelling to, the romance of experiencing new places, people and things -- Wanderlust in full force. But don’t let being an adult get you down too soon!
Though an extended trip across the world may be a little unrealistic, we have a different idea on what can fill our wandering hearts and we’d like to share them with you.
When is the last time you had time for yourself? No, not that one afternoon you got off early and had some extra time to head start your errands. Or the weekends you so look forward to full of catching up. Catching up on your laundry, with a girlfriend over lunch, or (gasp) that deadline that is looming in this coming week. The point here is we often times forget to slow down and take a complete, uninterrupted moment for ourselves. We let the motions of every day life take over and leave the most important as last priority -- Which is you!
Vincent Peach created his Santa Fe Drifter’s Buckle with this very woman in mind. The woman whose fearless heart is always contradicting life’s practicalities; The woman who puts everyone and everything before herself. The Drifter’s buckle and its divine versatility as a wrap bracelet or choker necklace is designed for the spirit of the wanderess and the importance of art with a function. Fuel your summertime wanderlust with handcrafted artisanship.
Sounds cliché, but don’t underestimate the power of sunshine on your face, toes in the grass and a moment that pure silence can have. Forget work, any tasks at hand, and all fleeting thoughts for a couple minutes to recharge your soul.
Go to an area in your city that you don’t spend much time in and just walk. There is so much change happening all over that it’s hard to get an idea when only passing through. Walk into that boutique you always see and have never been to yet, or the coffee shop with the cute facade. You will be surprised of what you’ll find while on foot and conversations that may spark with your local shop owners.
Reinvent the cool nights with only the light from the porch and the glass mason jar you have of the curiously sparkling little creatures; Pure memories to take you back to the definition of adolescent summertime.
It could be a new book or your favorite book for the third time. Wandering through the stories of someone else as the beam of sun shines on the chair you chose and a cross breeze flows through the room; Small details that only summer can provide.
Fulfill your wanderlust with a mini road trip complete with your favorite playlist and a destination that’s new. Up to two hours from you there are new things waiting to be discovered in every direction. Start the car, put on some music, and drive. It could be a hiking spot, or that small, but quaint little town with the historic Inn that also doubles as a restaurant with the beautiful outdoor patio.
No matter how you do it, never forget the wandering soul inside you. She is a girl on fire; the more you suppress her, the harder you get burned. The Drifter knows the more you give yourself to places, the more of yourself you get back; “Not all those who wander are lost”.
Last spring, Vincent Peach built a HUGE new showroom at Zapp Hall, next to the Bubble Lounge and the world famous pies of Royer’s Café where you can see all of Vincent’s newest designs that have been taking the nation by storm. Even though you might be looking for those old trunks and spurs, you will always seem to find the hidden treasures when you are wearing your new leather, pearl and diamond necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Even better is getting to meet the designer himself!
Don’t be surprised by the numerous celebrity sightings or the mountains of turquoise and silver or the heaps of rusty gold that cover the All-American Texas dirt. You can’t afford to miss the Junk Gypsies’ Junk-O-Rama Prom at the end of the week at Zapp Hall. Embrace that feeling when you find yourself taking a week off from the daily grind for a road trip to the heart of the Lone Star state to experience that fleeting, good old-fashioned sense of Freedom that always seems to be slipping farther and farther away.
When you meet him, ask Vincent Peach about how he started at Round Top when he was in the antique business and about how now, his designs are being featured in the biggest magazines, worn by the hottest celebrities and sold in over 600 stores across the country. Ask him about why he always loves to get back to Round Top personally to enjoy the magic that exists in a place where everybody you meet feels like a long lost relative. Vincent tries to keep that spirit alive with the showroom’s daily happy hour from 5-7pm, where he likes to offer wine and hors d-oeuvres. In the designer’s own words: “I find lots of inspiration at Round Top and it holds a special place in my heart. This is my happy place. I always release my favorite new designs at Zapp Hall and enjoy seeing the reactions when my customers try on that new Tahitian pearl necklace in the mirror for the first time or those new diamond and south sea pearl earrings. They can feel just as comfortable wearing them here in an antique tent in Texas or at a black tie gala in New York. I want anyone who wears my jewelry to look and feel amazing, no matter where they are.” And they all do.
Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy all that Round Top has to offer. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet designer, Vincent Peach in his element. Don’t miss this opportunity to get out there, live life and keep that American Spirit alive. Start planning your trip to The Round Top Antiques Fair now. It may have been on your bucket list for a while or it may be the first time you’re hearing about it but now is the time to seize the day. Reach out and let Vincent know he can expect to see you there. See you at the show!

]]>This holiday season, we will be having a giveaway every week through the holidays! Like us on Facebook to enter! This week's prize: The Seaplicity Necklace valued at $192!
]]>Our significant others aren’t always adept at giving the gifts that we like to receive. This year, start hinting early to make sure that they can be confident you’ll enjoy the gifts they are giving. Remember though, hinting is more of an art than a science and you will need to find what works best for you. Here are the top 5 tips to start dropping hints about your holiday wish list:
#1: Make sure they are listening
Give a little story with the hint to cement it in place.
#2: Leave pictures around the house, on the computer or on the refrigerator.
You don’t have to say a word to get your point across. You might just “forget” a certain page in the printer...
#3: Mention it in conversation
This can be a little tricky. You have to be delicate enough that you don’t offend your partner but assertive enough that they pick up the hint.
#4: Drop hints while shopping
If you are out together shopping for someone else, let them know what you would want.
#5: Be Honest
The fifth best hinting technique is quite simply to be honest with your partner and openly mention your likes and dislikes to avoid any embarrassment during the holidays.
Remember, the right gift can make you happy to receive but also make your significant other happy by giving you something you enjoy. Sometimes they just need a little help getting there!
